About Us · Est. 1917
A light in Acadiana for over a century
We are more than a camp and conference center — we are family.
Our Story
From academy to camp
Our story starts in 1917, when Acadia Baptist Academy opened its doors to educate and disciple the young people of south Louisiana. For nearly six decades the academy shaped students in faith and learning, until it closed in 1974 — and in 1975 this ground began its second life as Acadian Baptist Center.
We recently celebrated 100 years of being a light for the gospel in Acadiana. Since our beginning, more than 7,000 people have made professions of faith here, with thousands more rededicating their lives. We believe the best chapters are still being written.
Today the center is led by Director James Newsom and a staff whose goal is simple: a clean, attractive, friendly environment where people of all ages can retreat from the distractions of the world and meet with God.

Our Mission
Four things we’re after
Evangelism. Every camp and retreat is a chance for someone to meet Jesus for the first time.
Discipleship. Helping believers grow — spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, socially, and physically.
Fellowship. Around a campfire or a pot of coffee, community happens here.
Recreation. Joy is part of the design — from the pool to the pecan grove.
We exist to serve the churches, associations, and agencies of the Southern Baptist Convention — and we welcome compatible Christian groups and nonprofits whose purposes align with our mission. Read our Statement of Purpose, What We Believe, and Marriage Policy.
